Anxiety Loses When Fought With Hypnotherapy
by Paul Howard
Plenty of people grapple each day with anxiety. We’re not talking about being scared that you didn’t pass your driving test or worry over a job interview. Anxieties tend become deep rooted elements of a person’s life and can generate mayhem in their relationships, working life and leisure time and make it very difficult to function on a day to day basis.
Anxiety often creates a snowball effect of emotions that happen when something, even the smallest thing, goes wrong in a person’s life. For example, for anyone struggling with anxiety, even the tiniest intrusion can throw his or her whole day out of line.
Let’s say you are preparing for work and your car won’t start. Automatically your mind starts racing. This means you are going to be late for work, which means your boss is going to think you are irresponsible, which means you are unlikely to get the raise you require to buy your first home which means you are going to be stuck in an apartment forever and your whole financial life is ruined. In an instant your car not starting is equated to a destroyed life for anyone dealing with anxiety.
Anxiety builds if left unchecked
Individuals often become afraid of things that have led them to anxiety historically. The individual in the above example may seldom look at their car the same way again. Fear leads to the avoidance of things that people fear and can generate havoc in their lives such as the example given above. They may need to change their car as the current one is now associated with generating anxiety. People may become phobic of snakes, spiders, clowns, chickens and plenty of other things.
How about something new
If you or someone you know is suffering from fear and anxiety. You may have tried different methods including counselling and anti-anxiety medications to make it go away but nothing has worked. You may have spent many hours reading self-help books with no luck.
You still have one more option available to try and that is hypnotherapy. The problem with most talk therapies is that it basically makes use of the conscious portion of your brain. The conscious part is the portion that controls and assists you with day-to-day thought processes.
The purpose of hypnotherapy is to relax the conscious level of the brain so that the subconscious portion is allowed to come to the forefront. What is the subconscious? The subconscious mind is that part of your brain that takes care of your automatic day-to-day business such as driving a car. You have done it plenty of times that conscious though is no longer necessary for these types of tasks.
Once the subconscious is available to the hypnotherapist, he or he will work with you to re-educate your subconscious. For example, in the event you are afraid of spiders, a hypnotherapist can help you relate spiders to something light and comic in lieu of something to be afraid of. Over time, you will learn that you are significantly bigger than your fears and can overcome all of them through hypnotherapy!
