Make stop smoking easier on yourself
At the Surrey Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy, here in Wallington, Surrey, we have helped thousands of smokers to stop smoking for good.
Today in this video, we’re going to take all the techniques you have learned in our ‘How to Stop Smoking in 5 Simple Steps’ pdf and build on it by fortifying your subconscious mind, to give you the edge when you finally stop for good.
If, for some reason, you haven’t seen the pdf, download it now. We are currently making it available for free. The pdf is great, but I also want to explain why your subconscious believes you need to smoke, and why it actually tries to maintain your smoking behaviour.
Of course, if you’ve been using the techniques in the pdf, you should:-
- Already be back in conscious control
- Have techniques to beat the cravings, and should already be seeing yourself as a non-smoker
- Be more in tune with your body and be able to interpret its signals properly
If you don’t feel confident on all these points, you should go back to the pdf and work through the exercises again.
How we make stop smoking easier
It’s important because when the day comes to stop, you want to have all your ducks in a line, from a conscious point of view, before we can help you to make changes in your subconscious mind.
You see, most smokers continue to smoke because they hold fictitious beliefs (in their subconscious mind) that work against the conscious decision that they have made to stop smoking permanently. If we can help you to change those fictitious beliefs, we can really boost your chances of becoming a non-smoker for good.
To work out what these fictitious beliefs are, we have to look back at when we first started to smoke, and what feelings we had at the time. It is these feelings that set up the beliefs in our subconscious mind and that doesn’t make stop smoking easier.
Most people believe that they smoke because of nicotine addiction, habit or because it de-stresses them. The thing is that, in the vast majority of smokers, this is just not true.
Most smokers start in their teens. For boys, it’s because they want to look “hard” (i.e to be more of a man), or cool. For girls, it is often to fit in, to be part of the group, or perhaps to look cool or more adult.
So, the belief that is set up is that we look good. When we look good, that makes us feel good. This, of course, is repeated over and over again, until the belief becomes firmly entrenched in the subconscious mind.
Now, as we get older, the conscious mind develops and we start to develop new conscious beliefs and come to realise that smoking doesn’t make you look good, cool, hard, or even help you to fit in. But, because the original belief is so entrenched in the subconscious, these new beliefs do not overwrite the original beliefs that are driving the smoking behaviour.
So, what happens is that eventually, the conscious thoughts drive us to attempt to stop. However, whenever we try we always have to fight the subconscious mechanism that uses smoking to make us look good and feel good. And it is this conflict that may cause irritability, depression and anxiety when you stop.
When the subconscious and conscious conflict, the subconscious mind always wins. And this is the reason why so many people will fail when they try to stop because their subconscious mind actually wants them to continue to smoke.
Because hypnotherapy can address these subconscious beliefs, it can vastly increase your chances of success.
The first step is to understand what’s going on. Knowledge is power, after all.
So, now you’re starting to understand what’s going on, it makes it easier to deal with any cravings or mood swings that may occur. You understand why they are happening and what your subconscious is trying to do.
The next step is to get the subconscious mind to re-evaluate these old fictitious beliefs. Now, it’s pretty much impossible for us to do that in this video. But don’t worry because, provided you have downloaded the pdf ‘How to Stop Smoking in 5 Simple Steps’, you will be sent our ‘Re-programme Your Subconscious Smoking Beliefs’ mp3 that will help you do just that.
This mp3 is not going to solve all the issues surrounding smoking, but what it will do is address one of the biggest problems that smokers face, and hopefully make stopping smoking for good, achievable for you this time.
All you need to do is listen to the MP3 on your phone, computer or tablet, once a day for a few days when you stop smoking and the MP3 will help you to influence your subconscious mind by simply getting it to re-evaluate any beliefs that are supporting your smoking behaviour.
If, as you go on, you find those old beliefs starting to appear again, you can simply play the MP3 a couple of times to remind the
subconscious of what you want your life to be like going forward. A life that’s free of all the problems that smoking ultimately brings on.
I really hope you are successful after all we want to make stop smoking easier for you. Just put the fear of failure out of your mind and go forward and succeed.
Remember, if at any time you’re struggling and the desire to smoke returns, just ask yourself a question “Why would I want to smoke?”
